Certainty of Death & Taxes

March 28, 2010

“It’s income tax time again, Americans: time to gather up those receipts, get out those tax forms, sharpen up that pencil, and stab yourself in the aorta.”

Dave Barry

Not sure that I necessarily agree with the whole stab-yourself-in-the-aorta aspect of the quote I’ve posted above, although there are times when it does feel pretty close to the truth.

After a fabulous tweet-up with Ben LaMothe (@benlamothe), Karen Moran (@ad_chickadee) and my husband Chris (@cap02d), Chris and I settled down to figure out our income taxes for the past year. It was a pretty grueling experience as this is the first time we’ve filed our taxes jointly and the that fact that he and I have both had multiple jobs (hooray for the economy).

We put in about four hours of blood, sweat and tears and are finally (I’m quite happy to say) finished with the ordeal. So much for the free time that I thought I would have this afternoon to sit down and outline some of my ideas for Script Frenzy. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to start seriously putting pen to paper on that subject tomorrow evening after work.

Wish me luck!
