Recently, I had the pleasure of being part of the interview committee for our latest hire for the strategic communications team (specifically for PR). We met Gabe late one Saturday morning at Starbucks, and I remember leaving the meeting feeling impressed and refreshed by his energy, experience and openness. When he followed up that next week with a creative letter of thanks, he’d all but sealed the deal in my mind. (Note: Thank you cards/letters post-interview are not an archaic tradition – they really do leave a lasting impression.)
A couple of weeks later, he was offered a position with our Agency, and joined our Orlando office. Because I know firsthand that change can be disconcerting and exciting in equal measures, the letter for Day 6 is a letter not only of welcome for my newest teammate, but also one of congratulations for surviving his first big media event in that role.
As you can see from the photo below, we celebrated the occasion with our usual enthusiasm. Gabe, you’ve made it through initiation and are officially a “Daltonite.” Congrats! :)
