I’ve always been a voracious reader. Growing up, I devoured books by the hundreds each year—fantasy, science fiction, mystery, psychological thrillers, and anything else that promised a good story. It wasn’t long before reading naturally evolved into writing, and I eventually enrolled in the creative writing program at Florida State University.
After graduation, I realized that while storytelling would always be a part of who I am, I didn’t want to be confined to a single career path. I wanted to find a field that would allow me to synthesize all of my interests—storytelling, psychology, education, science, and analytics. After auditing classes in advertising, public relations, and web design, I began to see that marketing was a natural bridge between many of my interests.
At its best, marketing isn’t simply about promotion (although that’s obviously a key component). It’s about understanding people, translating complex ideas into meaningful narratives, and helping companies and organizations communicate their purpose clearly and authentically.
That curiosity led me back to Florida State, where I completed a master’s degree in Integrated Marketing and Management Communication. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work at several regional agencies, survive the rush and risk of managing a marketing team for an e-commerce start-up, and eventually co-found Go Bright Marketing, where I help organizations tell their stories more effectively through strategy, content, and thoughtful communication.
Outside of my professional life, creativity tends to spill into just about everything I do. You’ll usually find me writing, crocheting, sketching, experimenting with ceramics, tending to the garden, taking sewing classes, or wandering somewhere with a camera (and kiddos!) in hand.
I run where my muse takes me—and life, it seems, approves.
